The development of structural concepts, economic alternatives, and system selections result in cost-effective and constructible building projects. CTS can provide Tower Analysis, Tower Mapping, Zoning and Construction Drawings.

Planning the development of a communications site is crucial. All activities involved in constructing or maintaining a site must be effectively organized in order to complete the project efficiently.

Services Include:

  •  Site Acquisition and Permitting

  •  Site Survey

  •  Site Design and Development

  •  R56 Audit and Inspection

  •  Tower Analysis

  •  CAD Drawings

  •  Site Acquisition and Permitting

We offer a variety of services in the area of site acquisition, from overall management of the process, site identification, acquisition and permitting. It is essential to consider site acquisition in the earliest stages of the project planning process in order to achieve schedule expectations. The Site Acquisition process requires special attention to political, social and regulatory issues.

Site Survey Services

Engineering services are offered to design and development communication sites. This may include civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical work and installation of supporting equipment. Every construction project is unique and will involve the expertise of a number of specialized professionals.

The following items are supplied as a minimum (not limited to):

  •  Topographic and property boundary surveys signed and sealed by a Registered Professional Engineer.

  •  Electronic and paper copies of property boundary surveys, showing easements, rights-of-way and boundaries.

  •  Electronic and paper copies of topographic surveys showing all relevant surface conditions and characteristics.

  •  Latitude, longitude and elevation of proposed tower center in relation to the communication site.

Site Design and Development

Engineering services are offered to design and development communication sites. This may include civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical work and installation of supporting equipment. Every construction project is unique and will involve the expertise of a number of specialized professionals.

All drawings developed in the process of site design require to be accurately maintained to reflect the intended design of the site, and also the way the site was actually built (as-built drawings). Drawings are marked up to indicate modifications made at the site during construction. Drawings to support as-built site design and construction are provided to the customer.

R56 Audit and Inspection

CTS professionals ensure site design and development meets high-quality standards including applicable local building and zoning regulations. Site designs in accordance with our Health & Safety program and the R56 Standards are critical for system functionality as well as the protection of equipment and personnel. We understand the importance of implementing and following these safety programs during construction and operation of communication systems. R56 Inspection and audit services are available.

R56 Standards and Installation Guidelines provide Motorola's guidelines and requirements for the installation of communication equipment, infrastructure, and compounds. The R56 manual provides guidelines and requirements for a major aspect of site development, installation of equipment, or performing maintenance. This document is updated regularly so it shall always apply to new communication sites built after its latest publication.

Tower Analysis

One of CTS first services offered are Tower and Structural Analysis services for existing towers. We have personnel who are qualified to climb and map towers. Our staff is composed of talented and qualified civil and structural engineers capable of performing structural analysis for monopoles, self-support, and guy towers. If the result of the structural analysis do not follow the current R56 standards, our staff is highly qualified to provide tower reinforcement solutions for such. This service includes the following: Tower Mapping, Tower Structural analysis performed to current R56 standards, and Impact evaluation for future equipment loading.

If additional antennas are to be added to an existing tower, or if a structure other than a tower will be used to support a communications system antenna, the tower shall be analyze whether the tower or structure can safely support the additional load. Tower mapping is also required.

AutoCAD Site Plans

We create AutoCAD site plans that provide the customer with details for site construction or any civil and structural related site work. The site plans include construction drawings of the site along with grounding, electrical and telco routing details as well as tower elevation details. Construction Drawings are tailored to suit the requirements of the customer.

We ensure that site development plans are developed in accordance with jurisdictional codes and specifications.

Typical Site Plans include (but not limited) the following:

  •  General compound and site layout relative to the surroundings

  •  Location of access road (if applicable)

  •  Location of existing utilities

  •  Road profiles

  •  Existing road profile

  •  True North/South and East/West Construction baselines as represented from the center of the site structure.

Site Walks

Site walks are included in the scope of work. After a site's use has been confirmed, a site walk is conducted. Site walks consist of examining as much detail about the site as possible, and to clearly determine and describe responsibility for all aspects of the site development.

Typical act ivies during a site walk (but not limited to) include the following:

  •  Precise location. Note the precise location information is required for future reference and equipment deliveries.

  •  General Condition. Note general condition of site and surrounding area, including pre-existing flooding or erosion conditions. Note site characteristics and any notable items from the surrounding properties.

  •  Site Layout

  •  Verify the location of the nearest commercial utility/electrical service.

  •  Site Accessibility. Access to the site is crucial and should be thoroughly investigated and noted. Any security issues should be noted and foreseen.

  •  Load Considerations. Observe and investigate weight (load) considerations whether on the access road, elevator or floor.

  •  Type of property. Note the type of property as existing facility, building top, private, state, or federal property.

  •  R56 Compliance. Perform preliminary R56 compliance inspection to ensure proper planning and advertisement to the customer (if required).
